Cardiac Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Kansas City, MO
This 13-week travel contract places you on a fast-paced Cardiac Telemetry unit, working nights (19:00–07:00) with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The unit is supported by a Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and Patient Care Technicians throughout each shift.
Clinical Scope
The unit manages high-acuity cardiac patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring and post-procedural care following ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 open heart surgery, and permanent pacemaker placements. Nurses are expected to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips and to administer and titrate IV drips including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.
Procedures Performed
- IV insertion
- NGT placement and maintenance
- Chest tube maintenance
- Temporary pacemaker management
- Foley insertion
Requirements
- Prior Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, or ICU experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Ability to read and interpret EKG and telemetry strips
Scheduling & Float
- Full-time hours required, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
- Contract nurses may be floated to units where competency has been demonstrated
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs; black scrub pants with navy blue top are permitted.
