Cardiac Telemetry RN
Location: Kansas City, MO
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: Full-time; includes 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
About the Role
Join a cardiac telemetry unit caring for patients recovering from cardiac procedures and interventions. You'll manage post-procedural patients including those following ablations, cardiac catheterizations, open-heart surgery, and permanent pacemaker placements. This is a fast-paced environment where clinical skills and patient connection are equally valued.
Clinical Scope & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and 12-lead EKGs
- Administer and titrate cardiac medications (insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, Amiodarone)
- Perform IV insertions, NGT placement, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemaker management, and Foley insertions
- Provide responsive, compassionate patient care aligned with facility values (call light responsiveness, bedside teaching, involving patients in shift reports)
- Float to other units as competency allows
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
- Experience with post-cardiac procedural care
