Wound Care Nurse — Travel Contract | Los Angeles, CA
Shift: Days, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: Late September 2026
This wound care travel position is based at an acute care facility in Los Angeles and serves a diverse patient population spanning neonates through geriatrics. The role functions as a consultant/educator, providing expert wound, ostomy, and continence care across the facility.
Clinical Scope & Patient Population
- Diagnoses include hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI), wound consults, ostomy management, and wound VAC therapy
- Skills utilized include pressure ulcer staging and management, tunneling/undermining wound assessment, ostomy care (colostomy, ileostomy, loop, double-barrel, end stoma), venous and diabetic ulcer management, necrotic/enzymatic debridement, and incontinence skin care
- Robust interdisciplinary team including pharmacy, social services, respiratory services, lift teams, and interpretation services
Schedule & Logistics
- Day shift; weekend coverage on a PRN/as-needed basis
- No floating required; no on-call required
- No scheduling requests can be accommodated; flexibility is essential
- Max RTO: 2 weeks total; no RTO within the first 2 weeks of the assignment
Requirements
- Active, permanent California RN license required at time of submission (no pending or temporary licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of wound care nursing experience (1.5 years may be considered)
- BLS required
- Wound Care Certification required — WCC or WOCN preferred; course completion alone not accepted
- Electronic health record experience required
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- 2 supervisory references from within the past year required at submission
