Registered Nurse – Cardiothoracic Operating Room
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Cardiothoracic Operating Room (CVOR). You'll deliver specialized surgical nursing care to patients undergoing high-acuity cardiac and thoracic procedures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
About the Role
You'll function as both circulating and scrub nurse, providing direct support during complex cases including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repairs and replacements, and aortic repairs. Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing and maintaining sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment
- Coordinating with the perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
- Monitoring patient hemodynamics and status throughout procedures
- Performing accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts
- Administering medications and managing emergency supplies
- Collaborating with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff
- Assisting with patient positioning, prepping, and handoff to post-operative care
- Documenting procedural details and patient data per regulatory standards
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1+ years of CVOR experience
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
- ADN or BSN (BSN preferred)
- CNOR certification preferred
Schedule & Contract
- 4×10 hour shifts, day shift
- 13-week contract
- Start date: September 21, 2026
