Post Surgical Care Unit – RN
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Duration: 13 weeks
Location: Nashville, TN
About the Role
Join a post-surgical care unit where teamwork and strong provider relationships are core to daily practice. You'll deliver care to general surgery patients in the immediate post-operative phase, with close collaboration from surgical residents and attending physicians available 24/7.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- Young adults through late adults (18–60+)
- Common diagnoses: bowel obstruction, wound infection, gastrointestinal cancers, post-operative recovery
- Hemodynamically stable patients; no mechanical ventilation
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:6
Float Expectations
You may be asked to float to other units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs and census. Float assignments are communicated before your scheduled shift.
Requirements
- Current RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test
- Nursys license verification
Onboarding includes: Core competencies exam, EKG exam, skills checklist, and standard health screenings.
What We're Looking For
A clinically strong nurse comfortable with post-operative management and comfortable working in a collaborative, communicative environment. Clinical team interview required before assignment.
Contract Details: 36 guaranteed hours/week | 90 days
