Labor & Delivery RN

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN to provide direct care to laboring patients and their families. You'll monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery, manage high-risk obstetric conditions, and support both vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions; escalate concerns promptly
  • Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and provide epidural support per orders
  • Manage high-risk OB complications including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for cesarean sections
  • Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation when needed
  • Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
  • Document labor progress and interventions accurately in the electronic health record

Requirements

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
  • Minimum 1+ years of L&D nursing experience
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetrics, and operative deliveries
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
