Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Saint Helena, CA

Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: September 21, 2026

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical RN to join the unit on nights. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses, managing diverse acuity levels and complex presentations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate care as needed
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient response accurately
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift

Requirements

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
• Ability to manage diverse patient caseloads with varying diagnoses and acuity levels
