Medical Intermediate Care / Step-Down RN — Night Shift | Springfield, MA
This is a 13-week travel contract on a Medical Intermediate Care Unit that functions as a combined medical-telemetry and step-down floor. Night shift runs 12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), with 36 guaranteed hours per week.
Unit Overview
The unit cares for medical and intermediate-care patients across both sides of the floor. RNs are expected to work on both the medical-telemetry and intermediate care sides, with floating to other units possible on occasion.
Patient Population & Case Mix
- ia, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure
- DKA, HHS, ETOH withdrawal
- GI bleeding, sepsis, PE, UTI
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years of relevant RN experience preferred
- Competency with trachs, mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
- Experience managing cardiac drips and telemetry monitoring
- ACLS and BLS required
Contract Details
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: September 7, 2026
- Candidates must reside outside a 90-mile radius from the facility
- A Massachusetts Placement Agency License and Massachusetts Temporary Nursing Service Agency License are required prior to placement
