Emergency Department Nurse – 12-Hour Night Shift

Position Overview

Join the emergency department team for a 13-week contract. You'll work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with every other weekend required. This is a floating role across a multi-facility zone.

Floating Requirements

You'll float throughout multiple emergency departments within a 60-mile radius. Schedules are released 4–6 weeks in advance. You may be assigned to a single facility for a week or notified just 1–2 hours before shift start of your assignment. You're responsible for securing housing that makes this feasible. There is no home base facility.

Clinical Environment

These emergency departments handle 40–168 patients daily with diverse acuity levels. You'll care for patients with abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, ia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension. Patient-to-nurse ratios range from 1:4–1:5 based on acuity. You'll read and interpret telemetry strips independently, perform point-of-care lab testing, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment as needed. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications (AHA)
• Valid driver's license

Key Expectations

• Maximum 3 missed shifts in the 13-week contract
• 2-week notice required to avoid back-out penalties
• Attend week of in-person orientation before start date
• Navy blue scrubs
• 2–3 days of unit-specific orientation

Scheduling

Guaranteed 36 hours per week. Schedules follow either a single-facility week model or just-in-time assignments. The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
