Shift: 12-hour nights (1830–0700) | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
Unit Overview
This fast-paced Stepdown/PCU unit manages a high volume of admissions and discharges, caring for patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. RNs are expected to independently read and interpret telemetry strips each shift. Patient care techs are available on the unit for support.
Clinical Expectations
- Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
- Troubleshoot CPAP equipment as needed
- Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently
- Float to ICU may be required for qualified candidates with ICU experience
Schedule & Requirements
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday requirement: 1 major, 1 minor
- Cyclic scheduling; RTO must be submitted upfront — no additional RTO approved after submission
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Orientation: One 12-hour orientation shift in the department, followed by a pass/fail open-book skills exam (90% minimum to pass)
Dress Code: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas.

Radius Requirement: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and must not have held employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with a CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year. A valid driver's license is required at submission.
