Operating Room RN – Pediatric Surgery

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced OR nurse to join the pediatric surgical team. You'll provide direct patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment, working as both circulating and scrub nurse across a variety of pediatric surgical specialties.

Shift & Schedule

• 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM, four 10-hour days per week
• Friday shifts required
• Call duty every fifth weekend (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturday–Sunday)
• 15-week contract
• Start date: September 20, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Prepare and maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment
• Function as circulator or scrub nurse across general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, and other procedures
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout surgical cases
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-op handoff
• Document intraoperative care accurately in the medical record
• Manage supplies and equipment to ensure availability and proper function

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• 2+ years acute care experience; 1+ year pediatric OR experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Nursing diploma or Associate's degree
• Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles

Preferred

• CNOR certification
• BSN
