PACU Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment
Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week seasonal travel assignment in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This is a fast-paced, high-acuity role perfect for nurses who thrive in dynamic surgical environments.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 4:30 PM – 5:00 AM
- Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: September 28, 2026
About the Unit
The PACU manages recovery for patients across multiple surgical specialties, including spine, general, GI, colorectal, orthopedic, gynecologic, and robotic-assisted procedures. You'll also care for high-acuity patients including stroke cases, interventional radiology patients, and TAVR procedures. Some critical care overflow is common.
PACU staff float between units to support surgical volume and patient needs. The unit is staffed per ASPAN standards with a typical ratio of 1 RN to 2 patients (up to 3 for same-day surgery patients).
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of current hospital PACU experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Critical care experience and/or additional PACU background strongly preferred
- Stroke care certification a plus
