Catheterization Laboratory Technician II
About the Role
Join the catheterization lab team supporting a broad range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. You'll prepare the lab, equipment, and supplies with meticulous attention to detail, maintain strict sterile technique, and ensure accurate patient documentation throughout each procedure. This position also offers the opportunity to mentor junior technicians and technologists while serving as a resource for advanced procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the cath lab environment, equipment, and supplies
- Perform setup and operation of advanced cath lab equipment including IVUS, ICE, contrast injector, hemodynamic systems, intra-aortic balloon pump, rotational atherectomy, thrombectomy, and left ventricular assist devices
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and stop the line if a break in sterile technique is identified
- Document patient information, hemodynamic measurements, and ECG recognition during procedures
- Position and safely secure patients on the procedure table
- Support the physician and anticipate team needs during procedures
- Manage access sites and serve as radiation safety representative during X-ray use
- Train and complete competencies for assigned equipment and procedures
- Collaborate with the procedure team and cath lab leadership to ensure patient safety and departmental efficiency
Requirements
- Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or healthcare-related field (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in diagnostic, interventional radiology, or cath/EP lab settings
- BLS certification (AHA)
- ACLS certification (AHA)
- PALS certification (AHA) to work in pediatric facilities
- One of the following: RCIS, RCES, RCS, Radiography (R), Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Abdomen RDMS, OB/GYN RDMS, Adult Echocardiography RDCS, or RVT
Position Details
- Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday (8-hour days, 5 days per week)
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Location: San Marcos, TX
- Start Date: September 7, 2026
