Medical-Surgical RN – Night Shift | Weirton, WV | 13-Week Contract
This medical-surgical unit manages a general acute care patient population with common diagnoses including ia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and fall-related injuries. The unit runs at a moderate-to-high census with nursing support from PCTs and a dedicated monitor technician.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation possible
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling; manager builds the schedule with RTO consideration
Clinical Responsibilities
- Titrate non-cardiac drips (heparin, bumex, lasix)
- Monitor respiratory support patients; respiratory therapy manages treatments, ABGs, and equipment
- Telemetry monitoring supported by a dedicated monitor tech — nurses are not required to independently interpret strips
- Float requirement to other med-surg, med-surg tele, or intermediate care units for lower-acuity patients
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (first-time travelers considered)
- Active RN license
- BLS required
- Navy blue scrubs
Orientation
- 1 day classroom/system orientation
- 1 day with a preceptor
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: August 26, 2026
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Up to 2 shifts may be canceled during a 13-week assignment
