Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float RN — Garden City, KS Region
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | Guaranteed 36 Hours/Week
Start Date: September 21, 2026
This is a zone-based float position covering a 60-mile radius centered around Garden City, KS. Travelers must be prepared to work at any facility within Zone 4 and should secure housing that makes floating throughout the full zone feasible. There is no home base facility.
Schedule Details
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour night shifts
- 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Schedules released 4–6 weeks in advance; some shifts may be assigned 1–2 hours before start (Just-In-Time)
- Holiday rotation possible
- Low-census call is rare
Float Scope
You may be floated across MS-Tele, PCU/Stepdown, and ICU (low-acuity holds within your skill set) units encompassing Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Renal, Ortho, Bariatrics, Rehab, Trauma, and ED Observation.
Patient Population
Adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal/urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine.
Clinical Expectations
- Heparin drip titration required
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and arrhythmia management
- Respiratory therapy equipment in use (vents, CPAP, BiPAP)
- Designated charge nurse on each unit; nights charge may carry a small patient assignment
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA)
- Active RN license; must be in-state for the orientation week
- Prior neuro experience preferred
- Scrub color: facility-specified
*Travelers must submit a 2-week notice to avoid back-out penalties and may not miss more than 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.*
