ED Holding Support RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Med Surg Tele RN for its ED Holding unit—a fast-paced inpatient holding area within the Emergency Department. This role supports adult patients waiting for inpatient bed placement, managing a diverse range of medical and surgical diagnoses at varying acuity levels, including PCU-level patients.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour per week
- Every other weekend required
- Contract duration: 13 weeks (start date September 21, 2026)
- RTO: Up to 7 days pre-approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to adult medical/surgical patients in an ED holding environment
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; interpret dysrhythmias and respond to changes
- Manage airway support (HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care)
- Administer blood products, IV medications (heparin, insulin protocols), and manage complex lines (PICC, central, ports)
- Care for patients with renal failure, post-op trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI, and post-neuro/orthopedic surgery
- Manage feeding tubes, chest tubes, colostomy care, and wound management
- Float to ED and Med/Surg areas as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory, rapid response, pharmacy, social services)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- 2+ years Med Surg Tele experience (travel experience required)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- EKG interpretation competency (must pass EKG testing prior to start)
- Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote)

- MS/Tele: 1:6–1:7
- PCU-level: 1:3–1:4
