NICU Nurse – 13-Week Travel Assignment
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Shift: Day shift, 3×12-hour (7:00 AM – 6:45 PM)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
About the Role
You'll provide direct, comprehensive care to critically ill and premature neonates in a high-acuity NICU setting. This role demands strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions.
Your Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to neonatal changes; escalate care as needed
- Manage advanced life support equipment: ventilators, CPAP, umbilical lines, isolettes, and warmers
- Administer medications and titratable drips with precise neonatal dosing
- Support thermoregulation, feeding, and developmental care for premature and high-risk infants
- Collaborate with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team on the plan of care
- Perform rapid response and resuscitation interventions
- Educate and support families on infant condition, treatment, and care—including kangaroo care
- Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license (California)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Minimum 2 years NICU experience
- Experience with high-risk neonates, ventilator management, and isolette/warmer care
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- RNC-NIC certification preferred
Important Notes
- Required onsite courses within 30 days of start: Assaultive Behavior and Fire Card
- Documentation due 2 Mondays prior to start date
- Clean background required; DUI history disqualifying
