Staff Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical Unit

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Location: Lancaster, OH

About the Role

The facility is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join its medical-surgical unit. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses, from acute conditions to post-operative recovery. This is a full-time night shift position requiring strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (cardiac, respiratory, diabetes, and others)
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention standards

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio (or compact license)
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience
• Diploma, ADN, or BSN in Nursing
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle physical demands, including frequent patient handling

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree
• CMSRN certification
