Labor and Delivery Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Location: Overland Park, KS

Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36/week

About the Role

Join the facility's Labor and Delivery unit as a full-time RN. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients, manage fetal monitoring and maternal assessments, and support both vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. The unit follows AWHONN guidelines with patient ratios of 1:1 for active labor and recovery, ensuring focused, attentive care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
• Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and provide epidural support per orders
• Assist with vaginal deliveries; provide circulating support for C-sections
• Manage high-risk obstetric situations including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
• Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
• Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
• Document care accurately in the EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (or compact license)
• 1+ year of L&D experience (required)
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification
• Experience with fetal monitoring, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and high-risk OB
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred

Scheduling

• Rotating weekends
• No on-call requirement
• May float to Mother Baby and Women's Surgery units as needed
