Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Overland Park, KS

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: Rotating weekends; no call

Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

About the Role

The facility's Labor & Delivery unit is seeking an experienced RN to provide direct care to laboring patients and support safe deliveries. You'll work in a dynamic environment managing maternal and fetal assessments, assisting with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, and providing immediate newborn care and resuscitation support.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
• Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and support epidural placement per physician orders
• Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
• Assist with vaginal deliveries; provide circulating support for C-sections
• Deliver immediate newborn care and resuscitation when needed
• Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
• Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU team
• Document thoroughly and accurately in the EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• 1+ years of L&D experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal/C-section deliveries
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted

Preferred

• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
• OR circulating experience for cesarean sections

You may float to Mother Baby or Women's Surgery as needed.
