Oncology Nurse – Outpatient Infusion
Location: Atlanta, GA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (40 guaranteed hours/week)
Contract: 16 weeks
About the Role
You'll join a busy outpatient oncology practice delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients receiving cancer treatment. This role combines patient assessment, treatment administration, and education in a fast-paced infusion setting.
Your Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy per physician orders and safety protocols
- Perform pre-, during, and post-treatment assessments, monitoring for adverse reactions and side effects
- Manage vascular access: peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and implanted ports
- Address treatment-related symptoms (nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia)
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and self-care strategies
- Provide emotional support throughout the cancer care journey
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary team
- Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately
- Follow safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs per OSHA/USP <800> guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS certification
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS)
- Minimum 1+ year of recent oncology nursing experience
- Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- ACLS certification
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification
Holiday Requirements
Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day) and 1 minor holiday.
