Travel RN – Progressive Care / IMC Float Pool | Colorado Springs, CO Area
13-Week Contract | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
This is a float pool position covering multiple PCU/IMC units across a regional zone centered around Colorado Springs, CO. Travelers must be prepared to work at any facility within the zone — which spans up to 60 miles from Colorado Springs — and should secure housing that makes this feasible.
Schedule & Float Expectations
- 12-hour night shifts; 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule block
- Schedules released 4–6 weeks in advance; some shifts may be assigned 1–2 hours before start (Just-In-Time)
- Float may include PCU/Stepdown, MS-Tele, and low-acuity ICU holds as appropriate to skill set
- Holiday rotation possible; call/standby is rare (low census)
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
Float units cover a wide range of intermediate-acuity specialties including cardiac, neuro, oncology, renal, orthopedics, bariatric, rehab, trauma obs, and general medicine — adult and geriatric populations. CNAs are on staff; designated charge nurses manage each unit.
Candidates must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, Ativan, and heparin (dopamine, dobutamine, cardizem, amiodarone, and others common on these units).
Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
Minimum Qualifications
- Active RN license (Colorado or applicable compact)
- Minimum 2 years PCU/IMC experience required
- Prior neuro experience preferred
- Proficiency titrating cardiac drips, insulin, Ativan, and heparin
Additional Notes
- 1–2 day unit orientation with a preceptor
- Must be in state for week-of orientation
- 2-week notice required to avoid back-out penalty
