Operating Room Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse to provide circulating and/or scrub support across a variety of surgical specialties in a busy surgical suite.
Schedule & Contract
- 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 16-week contract
- On-call requirements; schedule varies
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day) and 1 minor holiday (day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year's Eve)
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles
Key Responsibilities
- Provide circulating and/or scrub nursing for general surgical, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, and other procedures
- Maintain sterile field, instruments, and equipment
- Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site and consent
- Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts
- Monitor patient status and safety throughout procedures
- Manage supplies and equipment availability
- Collaborate with surgical team to ensure efficient case flow
- Assist with patient positioning, prep, and post-op handoff
- Document intraoperative care accurately
