Travel RN – Oncology (BMT/Hematologic Malignancies)

Location: Denver, CO

Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Thursday (4 x 10)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

Join a specialized oncology unit focused on blood and marrow transplantation and hematologic malignancies. You'll care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy—including participation in phase 1 and first-in-human clinical trials. This is a high-acuity setting where your expertise directly impacts patient outcomes.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Administer chemotherapy and antineoplastic agents with strict safety adherence
  • Initiate and manage complex vascular access (peripheral IVs, PICC lines, implanted ports)
  • Assess patients pre-, during, and post-treatment; monitor for adverse reactions and side effects
  • Manage treatment-related symptoms: nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia
  • Provide patient and family education on treatment plans and self-care strategies
  • Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary care team
  • Document accurately in the EMR and follow hazardous-drug handling protocols (OSHA/USP <800>)

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • Current BLS; ACLS preferred
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute-care oncology experience
  • Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred

Patient Ratios: Typically 1:6 (fewer with higher-acuity patients)
