Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its medical-surgical telemetry unit. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions on the night shift.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
- Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
- 16-week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond to rhythm changes and patient deterioration
- Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips as applicable
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, and other chronic/acute conditions
- Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning and discharge
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
- Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
Requirements
- Active RN license (New York or compact license)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 1+ years recent med-surg/telemetry experience (2+ years preferred)
- Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency required
- For non-U.S. candidates: 2 years U.S. work experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- Float to other units as needed; willingness to work charge required (training provided)
- Flexible scheduling required; block booking may be requested but is not guaranteed
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
