Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse

Location: Rochester, NY

Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 12-hour rotation

Contract Duration: 16 weeks

Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week available

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its medical-surgical telemetry unit. You'll provide direct patient care to adults with a range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to patient condition changes
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound assessment and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, and chronic conditions
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team
• Manage typical patient loads of 4–6 patients per shift
• Support infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active New York RN license
• BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• 2 years of U.S. nursing experience required for international candidates

Schedule & Expectations

• One weekend shift per week or two weekend shifts every other weekend
• Must work at least one holiday during the contract
• Flexibility to float to other units as needed
• Willing to work charge nurse duties (training provided)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
