Med/Surg Telemetry RN – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for a 16-week contract on a medical/surgical telemetry unit. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions on the night shift (7 PM – 7 AM).

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 7 PM – 7 AM
• 36 or 48 hours available per week
• 1 weekend shift per week or 2 weekend shifts every other weekend
• Must work at least 1 holiday during the contract
• Flexibility required; float to other units as needed
• Willingness to work charge nurse role (training provided if needed)

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to condition changes
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care coordination and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
• Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
• Uphold infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active New York RN license
• AHA BLS certification; ACLS required
• Minimum 1 year recent acute med/surg/tele experience (2 years U.S. work experience required for international candidates)
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted
