Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
Shift & Duration
12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend. 36 guaranteed hours per week. 13-week contract.
About the Role
Join the Family Birth Center as a Labor & Delivery RN. You'll provide direct nursing care to laboring patients across low-risk and high-risk deliveries, manage fetal monitoring and maternal assessment, and assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. The facility has a Level III NICU and an on-site laborist (OB physician) available 24/7.
Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
- Assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Administer labor induction/augmentation agents and provide epidural support per physician orders
- Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care
- Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document care accurately in the EMR
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (California or compact license)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
- 1+ years of L&D experience
- COVID vaccination required

Note: Dysrhythmia competency test required on day one.
