Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Shift & Duration

12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend. 36 guaranteed hours per week. 13-week contract.

About the Role

Join the Family Birth Center as a Labor & Delivery RN. You'll provide direct nursing care to laboring patients across low-risk and high-risk deliveries, manage fetal monitoring and maternal assessment, and assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. The facility has a Level III NICU and an on-site laborist (OB physician) available 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
  • Assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
  • Administer labor induction/augmentation agents and provide epidural support per physician orders
  • Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
  • Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care
  • Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
  • Document care accurately in the EMR

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (California or compact license)
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
  • 1+ years of L&D experience
  • COVID vaccination required
