Travel RN – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Orthopedic Spine) | Columbia, SC
13-Week Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
This telemetry-capable orthopedic spine unit specializes in post-operative care for patients recovering from spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies. The unit also manages a broad medical/surgical telemetry population with diagnoses such as low-risk ACS, TIA, DVT/PE, COPD, chest pain, diabetes, and hypertension.
Clinical Scope
- Post-surgical care with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
- Special procedures: bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial and femoral), post-renal biopsy, CT angiography, and Heparin drip management
- Continuous telemetry monitoring with interdisciplinary support including rapid response, pharmacy, and IV teams
Schedule & Coverage
- 4x12-hour night shifts; every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts per contract)
- Floating may be required to other units or campuses based on census needs; float assignments are limited to areas where documented competencies exist
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active SC RN license or multistate compact license (no pending licenses accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Dysrhythmia certification required
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of orthopedic or Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- 1 year of electronic medical record experience required
- First-time travelers accepted

- Pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 billable hours)
