Labor & Delivery Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse for a night shift assignment. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients, manage fetal monitoring, support vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and collaborate with the obstetric team to ensure safe, compassionate care.
Shift & Schedule
- Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- On-Call: One 12-hour shift per schedule
- Contract Duration: 8 weeks
- Float: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license (Georgia or Compact license)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; first-time travelers welcome with clinical approval
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetric conditions, and both vaginal and cesarean deliveries
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive labor management: admission assessment, fetal monitoring, progress evaluation
- Interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions; escalate concerns appropriately
- Administer labor medications and provide epidural support per physician orders
- Assist vaginal deliveries and circulate for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) and initiate emergency interventions
- Deliver immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Educate patients and families throughout labor and postpartum care
- Partner with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams on patient care plans
Patient Ratios: 1:2 on nights
