Neuro/Medical-Surgical Nursing – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its neuro/medical-surgical unit. This is a night shift position working 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15) on a 13-week contract. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Key Details

• Shift: Nights, 4 x 12 hours; 36- or 48-hour weeks accepted
• Contract Duration: 13–20 weeks
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (5–6 shifts per contract period)
• Float Requirement: Yes; travelers float first
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start
• Strong teamwork and patient safety focus

Preferred Qualifications

• Neuro nursing experience or willingness to develop it
• NIHSS certification
• Charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the role

Clinical Scope

You will provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients with general medical and neurological diagnoses, including cerebrovascular accidents, dysrhythmia management, and post-operative care. Responsibilities include medication administration, IV management, telemetry monitoring, patient assessments, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate electronic documentation.

Important Notes

• All RTO must be pre-approved; no additional RTO after contract signing
• No RTO during the first week
• Call-off policy is strictly enforced
• Pre-start compliance testing required within 48 hours of signing
• Candidates must be available to work major holidays (2 of 3 required)
