Travel RN – Labor & Delivery

Location: Weatherford, TX

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Schedule: Every other weekend (no additional call)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36/week

About the Role

You'll provide direct nursing care on a busy labor and delivery unit, managing the full spectrum of obstetric patients from admission through postpartum recovery. This role requires skill, compassion, and the ability to respond quickly to changing clinical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
  • Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents, epidural support) per physician orders
  • Circulate and assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections
  • Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
  • Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
  • Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management, and postpartum expectations
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU staff on patient care plans
  • Document thoroughly and accurately in the medical record

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Texas (compact license acceptable; temporary licenses not accepted)
  • 2+ years of labor and delivery experience in a hospital setting
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (required)
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification (preferred)
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and both vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Ability to circulate C-sections
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Unit Details

  • 4 LDR beds with 1:1 antepartum/intrapartum, 2:1 postpartum ratios
  • No floating; no additional call requirements
  • No unit secretary or tech support—RNs manage patient care independently
  • Facility provides scrubs; maintain professional appearance per dress code standards
