Cardiac & Thoracic Operating Room Nurse
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Start Date: September 7, 2026
About the Role
The facility's cardiothoracic operating room is seeking an experienced CVOR nurse to support complex cardiac and thoracic surgical cases. You'll work in a high-acuity surgical environment performing both circulating and scrub duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, and aortic repairs
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment
- Coordinate with perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
- Monitor patient hemodynamics throughout complex procedures
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after cases
- Administer medications and manage emergency equipment and supplies
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion team
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff
- Document procedural details and patient data per facility standards
Requirements
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 1+ years of CVOR experience
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CNOR certification preferred
