Cardiac Surgical Nurse (CVOR)

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Cardiac Operating Room (CVOR) nurse to join the cardiovascular and thoracic surgical team. You'll support complex cardiac procedures including coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve repairs and replacements, and aortic repairs in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Shift & Contract Details

  • Schedule: 4 x 10 days, 06:30–17:00
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Start date: September 7, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide circulating and scrub nursing support for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment
  • Coordinate with the perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
  • Monitor patient hemodynamics throughout high-acuity procedures
  • Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles
  • Administer medications and manage emergency supplies
  • Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff
  • Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, and CVICU handoff
  • Document procedural details and patient data per facility standards

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1+ years CVOR experience
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
  • CNOR certification preferred
