Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Dallas, TX

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (three 12-hour night shifts per week)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to join a high-risk obstetrical unit. You'll provide direct bedside care to laboring patients, manage complex maternal and fetal conditions, and support vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor maternal and fetal status; interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
  • Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for C-sections
  • Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and epidural support per physician orders
  • Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care as needed
  • Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
  • Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
  • Document care accurately in the facility's electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of high-risk labor and delivery experience
  • Bedside competency in fetal monitoring, vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Ability to circulate C-sections

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
  • BSN degree

Additional Information

  • Weekend and rotating shift work required
  • Float to antepartum unit as needed
  • Patient ratios: 2:1 and 3:1
  • Professional appearance standards: clean nails (no artificial/gel), neat hair pulled back if shoulder length or longer, covered tattoos, and no visible piercings except ears
