Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Dallas, TX
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (three 12-hour night shifts per week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN to join a high-risk obstetrical unit. You'll provide direct bedside care to laboring patients, manage complex maternal and fetal conditions, and support vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status; interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support for C-sections
- Administer labor induction/augmentation medications and epidural support per physician orders
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care as needed
- Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document care accurately in the facility's electronic health record system
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Minimum 2 years of high-risk labor and delivery experience
- Bedside competency in fetal monitoring, vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Ability to circulate C-sections
Preferred Qualifications
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
- BSN degree
Additional Information
- Weekend and rotating shift work required
- Float to antepartum unit as needed
- Patient ratios: 2:1 and 3:1
- Professional appearance standards: clean nails (no artificial/gel), neat hair pulled back if shoulder length or longer, covered tattoos, and no visible piercings except ears
