Labor & Delivery RN — Night Shift
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Tuesday start)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours/week; 4 weekend shifts per month
About the Role
Join the Labor & Delivery unit as a night shift RN. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients, monitor maternal and fetal status, and support vaginal and cesarean deliveries. The unit manages 10 LDRs with typical patient ratios of 2:1, or 1:1 for high-risk cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor fetal heart rate and uterine contractions; assess and escalate concerns
- Administer labor medications per physician orders; provide epidural support
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk OB emergencies (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress)
- Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Document labor progress and interventions accurately in the EMR
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification (required)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification (preferred; C-EFM acceptable)
- Minimum 1+ years of L&D experience
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and delivery support
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
Unit Details
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
- Float assignments: Postpartum and medical floor (tech role only)
- Staffing: 3 RNs, 1 scrub tech, 1 unit secretary on night shift
- Bilingual skills a plus
