Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse to provide direct care to laboring patients in a fast-paced perinatal setting. You'll manage the full spectrum of L&D nursing—from low-risk to high-risk obstetric cases—including labor induction, augmentation, fetal monitoring, vaginal delivery support, and cesarean section assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Administer labor medications, epidural support, and emergency interventions per physician orders
- Manage high-risk OB conditions including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide circulating support during cesarean sections
- Deliver immediate newborn resuscitation and care as needed
- Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management, and postpartum care
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact license)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- 1+ years of L&D nursing experience
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal/cesarean deliveries
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
New hires receive preceptor-led orientation and competency validation within the first 30 days.
