Dental Hygienist – Columbia, SC

Position Overview

The facility's dental department is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist for a day shift position. You'll perform routine prophylaxis, patient education, and clinical procedures in a busy dental practice setting.

Schedule & Duration

• Shift: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Friday, 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
• Hours: 39 hours per week
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Days off: Weekends and major holidays
• Start date: September 21, 2026

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform oral prophylaxis: remove hard and soft deposits and stains from tooth surfaces; polish teeth
• Apply topical fluoride treatments
• Expose and develop radiographs
• Provide oral hygiene instruction and patient counseling
• Offer nutrition and dietary guidance
• Review and record medical and dental health histories
• Record vital signs (blood pressure)
• Chart dental disease and procedures
• Assist with student training (minimal supervision required)
• Handle appointment scheduling and confirmation

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene
• South Carolina Registered Dental Hygienist license
• 1 year of experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)

Additional Information

You will chart using the facility's electronic system. Annual orientation and compliance requirements apply. Pre-assignment modules (up to 16 billable hours) must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
