Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Medical/Surgical Telemetry nurse for a 18-week contract (13 weeks also available). Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Flexible scheduling options include 4x12, 3x12, or 2x12 shifts.

About the Role

You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring and vital sign assessment; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Administer medications and cardiac drips per physician orders
  • Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
  • Coordinate care for patients with diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory diagnoses
  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning and discharge
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
  • Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
  • Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio or compact state); must be in hand at submission
  • Minimum 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (active and in hand); willing to obtain NIHSS prior to start
  • ECG rhythm recognition competency required
  • One recent professional reference (manager, ANM, supervisor, or director) from the past 12 months
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)
  • Pass ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate assessment during orientation (2 attempts maximum)
