Surgical Technologist – Cardiothoracic OR

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join the cardiothoracic operating room. You'll provide scrub support during complex cardiac and thoracic procedures, working alongside surgeons, perfusion specialists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Shift & Schedule

Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)

Every other weekend rotation

Call schedule: 7 days on call, 7 days off

Contract length: 14 weeks

Start date: September 14, 2026

Requirements

CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification
BLS certification required
Minimum 1+ years of CVOR/cardiac surgical tech experience
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
RN licensure: GA or Compact license required at submission

Clinical Scope

You'll work on high-complexity cases including coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve repairs and replacements, aortic repairs, endovascular procedures, and thoracic aortic repairs. Responsibilities include:

Maintain sterile field and prepare specialized cardiac instruments
Pass instruments to surgeons, anticipating procedural needs
Perform accurate counts and specimen handling
Coordinate with perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup
Assist with room turnover between cases

OR scrubs provided
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
COVID-19 vaccine not required
Max 7 days RTO (finalized at submission; no requests during orientation week)
Holiday work expected per contract period
