Cardiac Critical Care Nurse – Night Shift
Facility: The hospital's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
Shift: 3 × 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: September 21, 2026
Patient Ratio: 1:2
About the Role
You'll care for high-acuity cardiac and medical intensive care patients, including post-cardiac-surgery overflow. The unit manages complex conditions requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring, titratable vasoactive medications, and specialized cardiac device management.
Clinical Scope
- Monitor and manage critically ill cardiac patients with conditions including LVAD, Impella, IABP, and temporary pacing
- Interpret dysrhythmias and respond to arrhythmias
- Manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitoring systems
- Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Perform sheath removal post-catheterization and intervention
- Support patients on CRRT and continuous sedation
- Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary teams
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certification required
- Minimum 2 years CCU or strong cardiac critical care experience
- Demonstrated competency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac-surgery care, and pre/post-catheterization care
- Ability to float to other ICU and cardiac telemetry units as needed per facility census
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Additional Information
- Orientation: 72 hours (begins Mondays)
- Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules required within 48 hours of contract start
- Weekend coverage and standby on-call expected
