Labor & Delivery RN — Night Shift | Smyrna, TN | 13-Week Contract
This active Labor & Delivery unit operates a laborist team model with 24/7 midwife coverage, a dedicated in-house CRNA, and an OB on call around the clock. The unit supports a patient-centered birth philosophy, actively promoting vaginal birth and personalizing each birth experience to individual patient needs and preferences.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 4 weekend shifts per month
- Float possibility to mother/baby or other departments for task-based assignments
Clinical Scope
- Continuous fetal monitoring and interpretation of FHR patterns
- Labor induction/augmentation, IUPC, and FSE placement
- Magnesium sulfate administration and management
- Postpartum hemorrhage response, including use of the JADA system
- Nitrous oxide administration for pain management
- Circulating in the OR for cesarean sections
- Immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Collaboration with midwives, OB physicians, anesthesia, and NICU team
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
- Fetal monitoring certification required; AWHONN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of L&D experience
- Spinning Babies and STABLE training are a plus

Hot pink top, black or hot pink bottom

- Contract duration: 13 weeks (start date: August 24, 2026)
- Postpartum couplet care model — newborns remain at bedside
- Donor milk available to support breastfeeding goals
- Level 2 NICU with 24/7 NNP support on site
