Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Location: Corpus Christi, TX

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract: 13 weeks | Guaranteed 36 hours/week

About the Unit

Join a busy emergency department managing a diverse patient population across acuity levels ESI 3–5. You'll work in a fast-paced environment providing care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma activations. The unit is transitioning to Level II trauma designation, bringing expanded clinical scope and growth opportunities.

The ED operates with a lean, tight-knit team: one charge nurse, one nurse, 4–5 floor nurses per shift, and support staff. Patient ratios run 1:4, allowing meaningful time with each patient while maintaining throughput.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid and acuity assessment
  • Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, wound care, splinting, IV placement, and lab draws
  • Respond to trauma activations and codes with urgency and clinical precision
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on patient plan of care
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Support patient and family education on discharge instructions and follow-up care
  • Ensure infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • TNCC or ENPC required
  • Minimum 2 years emergency department experience
  • Strong knowledge of protocols and high-acuity environments
  • Compassion, urgency, and teamwork

Preferred

  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) or TCRN
  • BSN degree

Unit Culture

Mandatory shift huddles at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. The team prioritizes timely, compassionate care and is actively climbing rankings in patient satisfaction and employee engagement.

Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs preferred; EMTALA training required.
