Emergency Department RN | Corpus Christi, TX
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Contract: 13 weeks | Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours
About the Role
Join the emergency department as a registered nurse providing urgent and emergent care to a diverse patient population. You'll work in a fast-paced environment managing low-acuity through moderate-acuity patients (ESI 4–5), with typical patient ratios of 1:4. The unit sees a steady volume of routine ED presentations alongside time-sensitive conditions including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma activations.
Clinical Scope
Your daily responsibilities include and rapid assessment, medication administration, IV placement and lab draws, wound care, splinting, and documentation. You'll respond to trauma alerts and codes, collaborate with physicians and specialists on treatment plans, educate patients and families on discharge instructions, and maintain efficient patient flow in a high-volume setting.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (required)
- TNCC or ENPC preferred
- Minimum 1 year emergency department experience
- Strong assessment and skills in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
What We're Looking For
Compassion, urgency, and excellent teamwork are essential. Candidates with CEN or TCRN certification and more than 2 years of ED experience are especially encouraged to apply.
Unit Details
Mandatory 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM shift huddles. Royal blue scrubs preferred. The facility is transitioning to enhanced trauma capabilities and prioritizes timely care delivery and patient satisfaction.
