Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Location: Santa Maria, CA (with rotation to nearby facility)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Contract Duration: 91 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
About the Role
The facility is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams across multiple specialty areas, including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and cardiac imaging. You'll work in an acute care setting, operating ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, analyze findings in real time, and communicate critical results to physicians promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams per physician orders
- Position patients and operate equipment to capture diagnostic-quality images
- Recognize and document sonographic findings; flag critical results
- Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment
- Document exams accurately in RIS/PACS systems
- Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians on imaging needs
- Educate patients and address concerns with sensitivity
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- ARDMS certification (specialty-specific: Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, Echo, or equivalent CCI)
- Current state licensure as applicable
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of ultrasound experience
- Proficiency with ultrasound equipment and PACS systems
