NICU Nurse – 13-Week Travel Assignment

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Weekends and holidays required (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 6-week block)
• Mandatory call/standby: one shift every 12 weeks
• Hospital floating required as helping hands to other departments

About the Role

You'll provide direct care to critically ill and premature neonates in a Level II NICU. Patient populations include infants with TTN, RDS, hyperbilirubinemia, hypoglycemia, and feeding challenges. You'll manage high-acuity monitoring, administer medications and IV fluids (TPN, dextrose), and operate advanced equipment including ventilators, BCPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.

As part of this role, you'll attend deliveries and care for postpartum mother-baby couplets (1:3 ratio per AWHONN standards). The unit has 6 designed beds plus 2 transition beds. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and neonatology are available 24/7; critically ill infants requiring advanced interventions are transferred to tertiary care.

You'll collaborate with physicians, NNPs, and an interdisciplinary team. Parent education and support—including kangaroo care—are essential.

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
• 1+ years NICU experience
• RNC-NIC preferred
• Must be in state for orientation week
