Infection Prevention Coordinator

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an Infection Prevention Coordinator to work collaboratively with the Infection Prevention leadership and medical team to develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control programs across the healthcare system. This role serves as a resource for staff, departments, and medical personnel on infection prevention best practices and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain infection prevention policies aligned with CDC, CMS, Joint Commission, and state regulatory standards
  • Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and analyze trends; investigate outbreaks and clusters
  • Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, isolation precautions, sterilization/disinfection, and bloodborne pathogen standards
  • Educate staff, patients, and families on infection control protocols
  • Prepare statistical reports and present infection control data to leadership and committees
  • Conduct departmental rounds and audits to identify and address infection control risks
  • Collaborate with physicians, employee health, and interdisciplinary teams on prevention initiatives
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning for infectious disease responses

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN); Master's degree preferred
  • Active RN license in California
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 5 years acute care experience; 6+ months infection prevention experience preferred
  • Infection Control Certification (CIC) required or eligible within 18 months of hire
  • Familiarity with CDC, CMS, and Joint Commission guidelines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Valid California driver's license

Schedule & Duration

  • Full-time, 8-hour days
  • 5 days per week
  • 8-week contract
  • On-call support required; occasional evening meetings
  • Start: August 31, 2026
