Respiratory Therapist – NICU

Location: Boston, MA

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: 36 hours per week; rotating weekends (every third week)

Start Date: ASAP (up to 4 weeks for compliance)

About the Role

The facility's NICU and Special Care Nursery is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver critical respiratory support to neonatal and high-risk infant populations. You'll work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and care teams to assess, manage, and monitor patients requiring respiratory interventions in a birthing hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret respiratory assessments and diagnostic procedures
  • Manage mechanical ventilation, artificial airways, and oxygen delivery systems
  • Administer aerosolized medications and respiratory care protocols
  • Provide autonomous, protocol-driven care in the NICU environment
  • Deliver room support during deliveries (experience preferred but not required)

Required Qualifications

  • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential, NBRC-certified
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification – REQUIRED
  • BLS/CPR-AHA certification
  • Minimum 2 years respiratory therapy experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • NICU experience is essential. (Limited pediatric experience considered only with demonstrated NICU background.)
  • Delivery room experience preferred

What to Know

  • No local travelers accepted (must reside >50 miles from facility)
  • Orientation: Weekly, starting each Monday
  • 72 guaranteed hours biweekly
  • No float requirement
  • No on-call duties included
