Respiratory Therapist – NICU
Location: Boston, MA
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 36 hours per week; rotating weekends (every third week)
Start Date: ASAP (up to 4 weeks for compliance)
About the Role
The facility's NICU and Special Care Nursery is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver critical respiratory support to neonatal and high-risk infant populations. You'll work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and care teams to assess, manage, and monitor patients requiring respiratory interventions in a birthing hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret respiratory assessments and diagnostic procedures
- Manage mechanical ventilation, artificial airways, and oxygen delivery systems
- Administer aerosolized medications and respiratory care protocols
- Provide autonomous, protocol-driven care in the NICU environment
- Deliver room support during deliveries (experience preferred but not required)
Required Qualifications
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential, NBRC-certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification – REQUIRED
- BLS/CPR-AHA certification
- Minimum 2 years respiratory therapy experience
- High School diploma or GED
- NICU experience is essential. (Limited pediatric experience considered only with demonstrated NICU background.)
- Delivery room experience preferred
What to Know
- No local travelers accepted (must reside >50 miles from facility)
- Orientation: Weekly, starting each Monday
- 72 guaranteed hours biweekly
- No float requirement
- No on-call duties included
