Charge RN – Emergency Department
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Charge RN for the Emergency Department on a night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). This is a 13-week contract, 36 hours per week, Friday through Sunday nights.
About the Role
You'll serve as charge nurse in a fast-paced ED environment, managing 60% direct patient care and 40% charge responsibilities. Duties include triaging and assessing incoming patients, responding to trauma activations and codes, administering medications and treatments, managing patient flow, and collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. You'll also float to the Medical/Surgical Stepdown unit as needed and provide backup support there.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in New Hampshire (compact license accepted)
- Minimum 2+ years current Emergency Room experience
- Proven charge nurse experience (required)
- Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital setting
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (all must be current)
- Ability to thrive in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
- Willingness to float to Medical/Surgical Stepdown and assist with those patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
- BSN degree
