Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN for night shift coverage. This is an 18-week contract (13 weeks also available), working three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and nursing staff
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift (varies by acuity)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Ohio or compact state); must be in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- BLS and ACLS certification (current and active)
- Recent (within 6 months) electronic health record charting experience
- Demonstrated telemetry/EKG rhythm interpretation competency
- One recent reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director in this specialty (from assignments in the past 12 months)
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must work at least every other holiday
Additional Information
You'll complete ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety assessments during orientation; acceptable scores on both are required. Locals are welcome and receive the same rate.
